How to select parameters?
Power (PWR/SPH)
Power or sphere refers to the refractive power of the contact lens. Look for a plus (+) or minus (-) sign. Note that an equals sign (=) may be used in place of a minus sign.
- dioptres are for problems with near vision (far-sightedness)
+ dioptres are for problems with distance vision (near-sightedness)
Curvature (BC)
The base curve describes the curvature of the contact lens surface, i.e. how well the lens fits the shape of your eye.
Diameter (DIA)
The diameter is the width of the contact lens (measured in millimeters). It is not recommended to select a new diameter size without first consulting your optician. Diameter impacts the fit, comfort and functionality of your lenses.
Cylinder (CYL)
The cylinder measurement is used for the correction of astigmatism. It is a negative value that corrects curvature of the cornea.
Cylinder Axis (AX)
The cylinder axis measurement is used for the correction of astigmatism. The value ranges from 0° - 180° and determines the exact position of corneal curvature.
Addition (ADD)
Addition is the difference between the dioptric value for distance vision and the dioptric value for near vision. It indicates the magnifying power in multifocal lenses.

PureVision 2 can be worn for 30 days and up to 16 hours per day after which they must be removed, cleaned and stored using contact lens solution. For added flexibility, PureVision 2 are also approved as extended wear contact lenses for continuous wear up to 29 nights and 30 days before removal. You should consult your eye care professional before switching to continuous wear.
Can you sleep in PureVision 2 contacts?
Yes, you can conveniently sleep in PureVision 2 for up to 29 nights and 30 days. Before wearing PureVision 2 or PureVision 2HD overnight, consult your optician to determine if sleeping in contact lenses is right for you.
Are PureVision2 and PureVision 2HD the same?
Yes, PureVision 2 and PureVision 2HD are the same contact lenses. Bausch and Lomb initially utilised the “HD” marking as a strategy to promote the exceptional High Definition optics technology in the PureVision 2 lenses.
Which is better: PureVision 2 or Acuvue Oasys?
PureVision 2 and Acuvue Oasys are popular silicone hydrogel contact lenses. Each provides exceptional comfort and visual acuity for wearers, but they also have distinct features, designs and replacement schedules.
PureVision 2 and Acuvue Oasys are available for daily wear and optional continuous wear. However, PureVision 2 are monthly lenses that can be worn continuously for up to 30 days before removal. Acuvue Oasys are bi-weekly lenses that can be worn continuously for up to seven days before removal.
The aspheric design of PureVision 2 results in sharp vision and allows for quick focussing when working on a computer or during fast-paced activities such as sports. Acuvue Oasys are spherical contact lenses with excellent imaging properties. The better option ultimately depends on your eyes, preferences and recommendations from your eye doctor.
What is the difference between PureVision 2 (6 lenses) and PureVision 2 (3 lenses)?
PureVision 2 (6 lenses) have six lenses in each package. PureVision 2 (3 lenses) have three lenses in each package.
The main difference is how long each box lasts in total. PureVision 2 (6 lenses) lasts up to six months if one lens from the box is used every 30 days. PureVision 2 (3 lenses) lasts up to three months. With a 6-pack of PureVision 2, you don’t have to worry about forgetting to reorder lenses as often. The price per lens is also slightly less costly when you buy the pack of six lenses.

Can these be stored in a contact lens case with contact lens solution? I’m currently using them to assist with a dry eye condition over night which is helping a lot but really struggling to keep them in during the day due to discomfort
