Vascularisation of the cornea
Pathological condition, which leads to the penetration of the small blood vessels in the cornea.
Vascularisation of the cornea may be a surface where blood vessels grow into the conjunctiva and cornea with tree branches, or deep, where the scleral blood vessels emerge at limbus and will not branch.
In this eye complication is recommended to discontinue contact lens wear, reduce or select another type – e.g. breathable contact lenses or lenses of smaller diameter.
