Scleral contact lenses

The diameter of the lens (LID) is up to 25 mm – compared with the corneal contact lenses. It is the first type of contact lens that has been manufactured and used. Currently used for patients after injuries. To enable breathing of the cornea, the lens surface has a fine perforation. They are used for irregular curvature of the cornea, with burns of the eye, or to correct keratoconus – in keratoconus it is necessary to adapt the shape of the inner surface of the contact lens to the corneal shape.
