Deposits
Deposits on contact lenses are invisible to the human eye and are the most common cause of inflammation.
- Tear film forms protein deposits on contact lenses – see proteins.
- At low contact lens hygiene or using contaminated solutions, there are bacterial and fungal sediments.
- When inorganic substances derived from tears, disinfectant and dust particles accumulate on the surface of contact lenses, these are inorganic deposits (calcium, magnesium).
