Albinism
Albinism is a rare condition when the eye does not produce pigment.
The patient is photosensitive (see photophobia), and has a pink iris which transmits light. It manifests itself by decreasing visual acuity and leads to nystagmus. The condition is often accompanied by strong refractive errors associated with astigmatism. Therapeutic contact lenses are used to reduce the bright light.
